Security Breach in Los Feliz
In late June 2025, a home located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, reportedly owned by Brad Pitt, was burglarized while the actor was abroad. According to LAPD reports, three suspects scaled a perimeter fence, broke through a front window, and ransacked the interior before fleeing with unspecified valuables. Authorities did not confirm the homeowner’s name but stated that no one was present during the incident. At the time, Pitt was in London for the global promotion of F1: The Movie.

The residence, a midcentury-style home on North Edgemont Street, was acquired by Pitt in April 2023 for approximately $5.5 million. The property had been considered a relatively low-key addition to his architectural portfolio and was not widely publicized at the time of purchase.
New Purchase in Outpost Estates
Roughly five weeks after the burglary, on August 5, 2025, Pitt completed the purchase of a significantly more fortified residence in the Outpost Estates enclave of the Hollywood Hills. The Spanish-style mansion, originally built in 1989, features over 8,300 square feet of living space and includes six bedrooms, formal reception areas, and extensive security upgrades. The architectural design combines tin-panel ceilings, sunflower motifs, arched hallways, and wood-beam detailing.
The property also includes landscaped gardens, a large swimming pool, and a gated brick motor court. Pitt reportedly paid $12 million for the estate, which had previously been listed at $13.9 million. The sellers were Dave and Emilie Keuning; Dave is best known as the guitarist for the rock band The Killers. The couple purchased the property in 2021 for around $9.6 million.
Context and Timing
The timing of Pitt’s high-profile real estate acquisition has raised speculation about whether the move was influenced by concerns over privacy and personal security following the Los Feliz break-in. While neither Pitt nor his representatives have commented on the matter, the change aligns with a broader trend among high-profile individuals seeking enhanced security features in residential properties.
Pitt’s purchase adds to his growing collection of architecturally notable homes. His known holdings include a $40 million oceanfront retreat in Carmel Highlands and other properties in Southern California. The Hollywood Hills mansion appears to reflect both a design sensibility and a potential strategic response to the limitations of the more exposed Los Feliz property.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the June burglary, though no suspects have been publicly identified. Security analysts have noted an uptick in targeted break-ins at celebrity residences in the Los Angeles area, often carried out when the occupants are publicly known to be away.
