Woman Suffers Stroke While on Italian Vacation Pays $200K in Bills

When a store clerk had a stroke while on vacation in Italy, her once-dream vacation became a $200,000 nightmare.

Grace Bradley has had paraplegia since she was thirteen years old, although she has grown increasingly self-reliant in recent years.

Working as a cashier at a nearby grocer allowed her to save enough for a June vacation to Italy. She had never had the chance to travel before.

Bradley, however, had a stroke while abroad; she remains hospitalized in Venice as her family works tirelessly to collect funds to return her to the US.

Grace was born with the disorder known as Vodder syndrome, which prevents the lymphatic system from functioning normally. She lost her voice, which was her greatest asset to her career, and has been wheelchair-bound since being paralyzed at the age of thirteen, as stated in an online campaign. She has battled several diseases and undergone multiple operations.

To her credit, she got a job as a Publix cashier.

The only thing her grandpa and aunt do to assist her is occasionally arrange transportation, but she’s perfectly OK with using Uber.

Her planned vacation continued to cause concern for her family.

The Philadelphia-based International SOS has calculated that a medivac home might cost as much as $195,000 in the event that her condition does not improve.

And Medicaid won’t pay a dime since the medical emergency occurred in another nation.

Her family has established an online fundraising page to assist with her medical bills and the cost of her return to the US. By the morning of Tuesday, it had collected more than $48,000.

The left half of Grace Bradley’s upper body is now completely paralyzed, according to her grandpa. Bradley states that Grace is unable to fly commercially back to the United States because of her present health.

The news that the United States government would not assist Tony Bradley and Grace Bradley—Grace’s father—in reclaiming Grace came as a shock to both of them as veterans.
