Major Crackdown on Criminal Aliens
Tom Homan, President Trump’s Border Czar, has made good on his promise to target sanctuary cities by leading a massive immigration enforcement operation in Boston. The six-day operation resulted in the detention of 370 undocumented immigrants, many with serious criminal histories that had been allowed to roam free under the city’s sanctuary policies.
The operation involved multiple federal agencies including ICE, FBI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals, and the Diplomatic Security Service working together to apprehend dangerous individuals. Authorities seized significant quantities of methamphetamines, fentanyl, cocaine, and three firearms during the coordinated enforcement action.
Homan confirmed that 205 of those arrested had serious criminal convictions or charges, with six being foreign fugitives wanted for grave crimes. Among those detained were members of notorious criminal organizations including MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Trinitarios, and 18th Street gang.
“I made a promise at CPAC that I was going to Boston after reading about numerous illegal alien child rapists walking the streets of Boston and Massachusetts. ICE had to find and arrest these illegal alien rapists because Massachusetts and Boston are sanctuaries that refuse to cooperate with ICE. These officers and agents made the neighborhoods of Boston and Massachusetts much safer,” Homan stated.
Sanctuary Cities Under Fire
The Boston operation follows Homan’s earlier declaration that he would bring “hell” to sanctuary jurisdictions that obstruct federal immigration enforcement. Just weeks before the operation, Homan had publicly committed to targeting Boston specifically due to its policies protecting illegal immigrants with criminal records.
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley emphasized the importance of the operation, stating: “Everyone should agree that we cannot and will not tolerate individuals who not only violate our immigration laws but then commit crimes that endanger our communities. Those who enter and remain in this country unlawfully are breaking the law.”
The success of the operation has highlighted the ongoing conflict between the Trump administration’s tough immigration stance and local sanctuary policies championed by Democrat politicians. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has previously defended the city’s sanctuary status and criticized federal immigration enforcement efforts.
