Irish singer Linda Nolan has shared an update on her health and said that two cancer tumors have developed, and the disease has spread throughout her body. The Nolans Sisters singer was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2005 and told reporters that she sobbed when her doctors gave her the latest tragic news.
The 65-year-old said she knew something was wrong when she found herself off balance and with a worsening memory, but said she was nevertheless stunned and devastated to learn it had returned and that the treatment keeping it at bay for years was no longer working.
Ms. Nolan will now commence new treatment on Enhertu, which treats cancers that cannot be tackled with surgery or other methods and is known to extend the patient’s life by an average of 23 months.
The Nolan family has been devastated by cancer, and Linda’s sister, Bernie, was diagnosed in 2010. Bernie’s treatment was initially successful, and following a mastectomy and chemotherapy, doctors told her the disease was in remission. Two years later, however, in 2012, it resurfaced, and she died in 2013.
Anne Nolan was the first to receive the devastating diagnosis in 2000 when doctors told her she had breast cancer. Like her sister Bernie, treatment was initially effective, and the disease disappeared for 20 years but returned in 2020. She died in 2021.
Talk show host Coleen Nolan revealed last year that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. The 59-year-old popular daytime TV star told her audience she had shoulder carcinoma and a pre-melanoma on her face. Ms. Nolan approached physicians when she noticed unusual red marks on her skin. She told her fans, “I don’t have dangerous skin cancer because I found it in time.”
The Nolans, who formed a musical group in Blackpool, England, in 1974, were initially known as the Nolan Sisters. They enjoyed a string of hits in the 1970s, including “I’m in the Mood for Dancing,” “Gotta Pull Myself Together,” and “Who’s Gonna Rock You.”
They remain one of the biggest-selling all-female groups in British music history.
