A recent survey by Harvard-Harris found that a large portion of the younger generation in the United States views white people and Jews as “oppressors” and finds political justification for the political assassination of innocent people.
Critical race theory (CRT) is a racist ideology that demands preferential treatment for members of certain races in educational institutions and the workplace; two-thirds of Americans, including 75% of those between the ages of 55 and 64 and over 80% of those 65 and older, oppose this idea. Nonetheless, this racist worldview was widely accepted by the younger generation in the United States. Approximately 80% of Americans in the 18–24 age bracket believe that white people are “oppressors.”
When asked which side they side with, Generation Z is evenly divided: 73% think Hamas’s acts were a terrorist assault, and 60% think the abduction and death of 250 Israeli citizens and 1,200 Israeli civilians by Hamas may be justified by Palestinian gripes.
Because of this sick mentality, some individuals, like Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, claim that Jews in the United States have joined the owning class and that this elite group seeks to lower the social status of the working class.
Some university presidents have suggested incorporating Jewish students in diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives after being grilled by Congress for not doing more to combat antisemitism on campus. But this snare is revealing since DEI offices weren’t “friendly” to Jewish students before. DEI is a significant factor in antisemitism since it is just the bureaucratic expression of CRT.
Instead of being one of the nonwhite disadvantaged, Jews are wrongly labeled as oppressors. That is not the issue. Sorting people into “oppressor” and “oppressed” groups and treating them differently is based on fixed traits like skin color. It would be in the best interest of Jews and all Americans to see the DEI commissariat dismantled.
Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, recent polls by Yahoo/YouGov and Pew also revealed huge generational differences. Terrorism against innocent people may sometimes be justified, according to young Americans, and the question on the justification of Hamas’ terrorism in the Harvard-Harris survey is vague.
The current state of American education cannot foster the morally upright and intellectually curious populace essential to effective self-governance. We must act quickly to implement these necessary changes. The first step should be to do away with CRT and DEI.
