The 31-year-old pop star, who is currently going through a divorce from actor Ben Affleck, quickly re-posted the image to her Instagram Stories, but it was soon deleted from both her personal and the brand’s social media accounts after fans pointed out the necklace’s connection to her estranged husband.
In the selfie, Lopez was dressed in a chic fall ensemble featuring a brown blazer and a white shirt. Around her neck was the infamous gold necklace bearing Affleck’s name, which he had custom-designed for her birthday in 2022. Fans were quick to notice the detail, with one person commenting on social media, “The ‘BEN’ necklace,” accompanied by a heart-eye emoji.
As soon as the post gained traction, it was replaced by product promotions from JLo Beauty, including images of candles, skincare items, and fall-themed snapshots. The necklace, however, remains a significant symbol of Lopez’s relationship with Affleck, as she was frequently seen wearing it during happier times in their relationship.
The “BEN” necklace, which also includes a heart pendant, is a luxury item from the brand FoundRae, known for creating custom pieces with price tags often running into the thousands. Lopez had proudly worn the necklace multiple times, including in an Instagram video as recently as March 2023.
This isn’t the first time Lopez has used jewelry to show affection for Affleck. In November 2022, she was spotted wearing a “Jennifer & Ben” necklace, further solidifying their once-strong bond.
The timing of the necklace post comes at a sensitive moment, as Lopez and Affleck are currently navigating a public divorce. The pair, who tied the knot in two ceremonies in 2022, have reportedly remained cordial for the sake of their blended families, even recently attending back-to-school events for their children together.
Despite their friendly interactions, multiple reports indicate that reconciliation is unlikely, and the divorce proceedings are still moving forward. Lopez officially filed for divorce on the second anniversary of their wedding, citing their separation date as April 26, 2024.
