DeSantis Announces Moody’s Appointment

In a move that reshapes Florida’s political representation, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Attorney General Ashley Moody to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio. The announcement comes as Rubio prepares to take on the role of Secretary of State in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

That’s going to please a lot of people!

DeSantis, in making the announcement, highlighted the critical nature of such appointments in the current political climate.

“Today I am proud to announce that I am selecting our Attorney General, Ashley Moody, to serve as our next U.S. Senator,” DeSantis stated. “These are always significant appointments, but I think right now appointments like these are more significant than ever.”

Ashley Moody brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Serving as Florida’s Attorney General since 2019, she has a background as a commercial litigator and federal prosecutor. DeSantis praised Moody’s alignment with Trump’s agenda and her vigorous defense of conservative values.

“I will bring the same persistence and passion and tenacity as a United States Senator that I have brought as Florida’s Attorney General,” she said in a statement.

In her new role, Moody has pledged to advance Trump’s “America first” agenda and control federal spending. She expressed her readiness to fight for the nation and support President Trump’s policies from day one.

“I’m ready to show up and fight for this nation and fight for President Trump to deliver the America first agenda on day one,” Moody declared.

“What has angered me the most as Attorney General… all that does is take the will of the people, the want of the people, through their elected representatives in Congress, and turns this into a country we don’t even recognize anymore,” she added.

Moody has been critical of the Biden administration’s expansion of federal agency power and its perceived undermining of state actions. She emphasized the importance of a strong Congress to ensure decisions are made by elected lawmakers rather than unelected bureaucrats or international organizations.

That’s the kind of person we need in the Senate!
