According to Sunday’s report in China’s state-run Global Times, the attempted murder of former President Trump demonstrated that American politics had become more extreme and reckless, leaving no space for moderates.
The Global Times began its chastising of political violence in the United States and how the shooting proved that Chinese centralized rule is a more stable and peaceful system.
Congress votes along party lines on nearly every issue, and partisan politics are growing more polarized. The shooting is a sign that America is doomed, according to Jin Canrong, Associate Dean of International Studies at Renmin University and an anti-American expert.
Unlike the political climate in France, which tends toward extremes, Americans have always taken pride in their ability to compromise. He said that moderates no longer have a place today because they are equally extreme and careless.
Also, social division is at an all-time high, the middle class is contracting, and the wealth disparity is becoming even worse in the United States. Jin continued by saying that President Joe Biden has presided over many contentious social issues, including economic policy and immigration. Apparently, Democrats have come to terms with the fact that they have very little chance of defeating Trump after Biden’s dismal performance in the debate. As a result, Chinese social media users believe that American democracy is in a precarious position and that additional attempts on Trump’s life are likely.
The infamous picture of a wounded Trump raising his arm up under an American flag has reportedly been selling like hotcakes in China, where buyers have been purchasing T-shirts depicting the scene.
The South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based news outlet, said that a Trump assassination t-shirt appeared for sale barely three hours after the shooting.
Some of the largest e-commerce platforms in China are offering t-shirts featuring the Trump flag design for $4 each. The buyer has the option to choose between two slogans: Make America Great Again, which is Trump’s official campaign slogan, or one that says that the shooting made Trump stronger.
