While dating actor and singer Justin Timberlake many years ago, pop diva Britney Spears reportedly had an abortion, a decision she later described among her most agonizing experiences.
The controversial 41-year-old music star reportedly got pregnant while dating Timberlake over 20 years prior, between 1999 and 2002.
In an upcoming autobiography, Spears will disclose how the pregnancy came as a shock but not a catastrophe. She felt so strongly about Justin. She believed they would eventually start a family together but hadn’t accounted for it happening so soon.
Spears wrote that Timberlake was sure he did not want to have children. So, she had an abortion. However, she insisted she would have chosen differently if given complete control.
Lila Rose, from Live Action, stated on X that hearing about the alleged abortion by Spears was very saddening.
Social media users have speculated that Spears’ unsettling public breakdowns could be linked to the anguish she experienced after the supposed abortion.
In 2008, Spears’ father took conservatorship of her and her two sons, Sean and Jayden, from her marriage to Kevin Federline. Spears stated that she was compelled to use an IUD to avoid becoming pregnant while under conservatorship. After her supporters made a public declaration and raised an uproar, the conservatorship was terminated in 2021.
Fans on social media have also speculated that Spears’ 2003 song “Everytime” may have alluded to her aborted pregnancy.
Whether or not the song and Spears’ public outbursts of emotion were related to the purported abortion is unknown.
Britney’s sister, Jamie Spears, in 2021, revealed how she had been persuaded to terminate her child when she got pregnant at 16, but she chose to keep her.
Furthermore, Live Action pointed out that studies show that women frequently get abortions because they feel compelled to do so.
Celebrities have been pressured to abort for decades. Marylin Monroe, Judy Garland, Ava Gardner, and Bette Davis reportedly aborted their babies to advance their careers.
