
Reports surfaced a month ago that Joe Biden’s entourage was expanding, and now they’re reportedly walking with him when he exits the White House.
In a video that quickly went viral, approximately ten individuals, including White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre, were seen accompanying the president as he made his way to Marine One.
The aides believe that by placing themselves between Biden and the journalists’ cameras, they might distract attention away from Biden’s unsteady gait.
The president was en route to Philadelphia for a campaign rally, as polls indicated that the Democrat ticket was losing ground with the black demographic compared to four years before.
Biden had been seen stumbling out of a Delaware clothes shop a few days before.
During his presidency, Biden is known to have preferred spending weekends in Delaware rather than in DC.
As Biden runs for reelection, many are worried about his age. According to an April NBC survey, voters fear that Biden doesn’t have the physical and mental capacity to be president for another term.
During March, Biden walked alone or with members of his family five times to and from Marine One. As of April 16th, he was accompanied by politicians or staff members nine out of ten times on his way to Marine One and back.
Special footwear is now a staple in the president’s wardrobe. He has also started using Air Force One’s shorter staircase. The larger staircase leading to the plane’s upper deck has 26 steps, while the one going into the 747’s belly has only 14 stairs.
Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, has observed the president’s stiffer ambulatory stride. While campaigning for president in 2020, Biden broke his foot and needed a boot.
During his almost three years in office, the 81-year-old president has had a few mishaps, including a fall while embarking on Air Force One, many stair falls, falling off a bicycle, and a particularly spectacular fall at the Air Force Academy caused by a sandbag.
