Bella Hadid has lawyered up following the withdrawal of her endorsement deal with Adidas SL72 sneakers and the subsequent reaction that led to her removal from the campaign.
Just last week, Adidas removed 27-year-old Bella, a strong supporter of Palestinians, from an ad campaign for throwback sneakers that harkened back to the 1972 Munich Olympics, which were overshadowed by the slaughter of Israeli participants.
In light of the recent issue, Hadid has decided to hire a legal team.
As part of its ongoing effort to revive its iconic sneakers, Adidas has reintroduced the SL72, which competitors wore during the 1972 Summer Olympics.
The company’s contract with Bella remains in effect, and Adidas has issued an apology, claiming it had no intention of making reference to the tragedy.
Black September militants stormed the 1972 Munich Olympics and kidnapped eleven Israeli athletes as well as a German police officer.
Violence is not consistent with Bella’s views, according to one of her friends.
The American-born daughter of a Palestinian real estate entrepreneur, Hadid has been an outspoken advocate for Palestinian causes since she was a young woman.
It was unclear how exactly Adidas would be revising the remainder of the campaign on July 19, but the announcement was made effective immediately.
In a statement, the business expressed its utmost regret for any harm or anguish caused, acknowledging that accidental references to unfortunate historical occurrences have occurred.
Pro-Israeli organizations were outraged by the model’s red throwback Adidas shoes.
The Adidas Originals Instagram account addressed the controversy on Sunday morning by publishing a message on the app’s Stories section.
A number of partners, including Hadid, formally apologized for “any negative impact” that may have been caused.
It went on to say that their recent SL71 campaign is being linked to the tragic events at the Munich Olympics. They offered their most profound apologies to the communities affected by these unintended links and regretted any trouble they may have caused.
They said that they were careless and made a mistake. They are making changes to the campaign and would like to apologize to their partners, including Bella Hadid, Jules Koundé, A$AP Nast, and others, for any harm that may have been caused.
